The kind of printmaking that lino is is relief printmaking, where colour is applied from high parts. For relief printmaking, the matrix is made from lino. I had used a lino-cutting tool, as well as a bench hook. Printing is completed with block printing ink, applied by a roller. I used an etching press to pull each print.
This is my lino board after it was painted with both blue and yellow. For being my first ever lino cut, I think it turned out amazingly. I was able to grasp the lino style quite well. Size A4
This was my first print. As you can see, it only has one colour: blue. I think it turned out pretty good for a first print. It was evenly inked and it wasn't under or over inked.
This was my final and favourite print, and comparing it to my first one, it's clear to see how much of a difference the yellow has made. I'm really proud of this one.
This was my first print. It was severely over-inked. I think I did this because the board hadn't been inked yet and I thought I needed to put on more ink because of it. All prints were done on A4.
This was my third and worst print. It was severely under-inked. I think I did this because I didn't want to repeat number 1's problem of over-inking and I also wanted the ink to be spread evenly.
This was my fourth and best print. It was pretty evenly inked and looks really good. It will look better when its a part of the whole piece.
This is four of the six lino boards put together. I think our group was able to link our boards together really well. It's just a shame that not all students had their linos put together.
